Day Trip to P-town! (Provincetown, MA)

SIDE NOTE: I’m back!! I stopped writing for a bit because the whole pandemic was just so draining and I was just keeping to myself. But I reflected on it and I really enjoy writing this. blog, even if it’s just my mom and BFF. And while researching this trip I realized how much I love reading travel tips from personal blogs over big travel websites. I hope that my blog and this post how you plan a great trip!

WHAT IS P-TOWN?

It’s June and you know what that means… PRIDE! Boston canceled pride this year due to COVID. So I needed to have some pride in my life so I decided to go to PTown. Provincetown is located at the most northern tip of Cape Cod. It is known as a destination for the LGBTQ community. Provincetown was also the first landfall of the pilgrims in the new world. You know I love a little history with beautiful scenery. On this trip my travel nurse friend, Xavier, and my bumble BFF, Katherine came along.

HOW TO GET THERE

There are 2 ways to get to Ptown from Boston. You can drive, which can sometimes take 3 hours. And. t have to deal you the cape traffic. Or you can take the ferry, which takes about 1 1/2 hours. We decided on the ferry. It was around $100 and leaves out of the Seaport neighborhood in Boston. We took the 830am ferry there and the 730pm back. This way we had a full day there. The way there was great and the view of the city was amazing. They serve drinks on the boat! So we got a mini bottle of prosecco and. had mimosas. The way back was rough. I got very seasick. I would suggest bringing some meds with you if you get seasick like me. Click the link below for more information on the ferry to PTown.

Commercial Street

This 3-mile street is where we spent most of the day. It runs through the heart of the town and has everything you need (and didn’t but. got anyway). My. friends and I just shopped and eat/drank. our way down this street. I’ll highlight some of my favorite stops!

Governor Bradford Restaurant

We needed breakfast once we got off the ferry around 1030. Nothing. else. was. open really and I can’t have carbs (keto) so real breakfast. sounded great. Nothing to write. home about but it hit the. spot.

Shop Therapy StreetArt Alley

Pepe’s Wharf

This was recommended on a blog I read and we randomly found it because I had to use the bathroom hahaha! The view was great. The staff was nice. The food and drinks were ok. I could have sat there all day.

The Blue Monkey Cafe & Bistro

Steele

Xavier loved this shop! It was an all men’s clothing store with fun and playful patterns. PTown has a lot of male-focused shops. If you are a fashionable man, you’ll love shopping here.

Helltown

Waydowntown

Nice view in the back of the harbor and beach. Had ostyers & wings. They were on the small side.

Pilgrim Monument

This monument is to honor the Pilgrims’ first landing in 1620. At 252ft and 116 steps, we decided to skip it, plus you have to pay $18. But I had to at least walk by. You can see it from the main road, behind the Tourist Office. I’ve heard it has a great view of all of Provincetown. For more information click here.

Beach!

Was this actually a beach? Did we actually just layout in someone’s rental? maybe?… But there is multiple beach access to this area from Commercial. street. There isn’t much sand on this “beach”. If it’s high tide you may have to. move. But we had fun laying out. Side note- dogs were allowed.

…….

PTown was so much fun. It was relaxing and exactly what I wanted out of a summer day. There a lot more to do there than what I did. If you plan on staying overnight, you better book months in advance. or be willing to spend a lot. But I think it. can be. explored. in a day. The. last ferry of the day back to Boston leaves at. 730pm. You’ll get back. around 9 pm. I. hope my guide helps you have a great day in Ptown. I plan. on be going back.

Till next time!

My name is Sara. I’m a ER nurse from Florida that is currently working as a travel nurse. I love to travel (like every millennial my age). I started traveling around the age of 23. I was dating a guy at the time that showed me how easy it was to travel. I had never thought that I could be able to travel at such a young age. I am lucky that I am a nurse and able to afford to and given the time to travel.
