Are You Ready to be a Travel Nurse?

T๐ซ๐š๐ฏ๐ž๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฌ๐ข๐ง๐  is probably one of the best decisions I made (besides getting Cooper) but what does it take to be a traveler?โฃ
โฃ
1๏ธโƒฃ Having your RN in the state you would like to practice in. If you do not live in a compact state and want to go to for example California, apply for the license sooner then later. A California license can take from 3-5 months.โฃ
โฃ
2๏ธโƒฃ Have at least 2 years experience in your speciality. Once you feel comfortable on your own in the unit, then you know youโ€™re ready to travel.โฃ
โฃ
3๏ธโƒฃStart talking to companies. Reach out to your fellow nurses and see if they have any recommendations. Make sure to talk to more then one company. Not all companies will have the locations, the benefits, or the pay you want.โฃ You have to shop around.
โฃ
4๏ธโƒฃKnow whatโ€™s important to you! Are you traveling because you wanna explore the country? Are you trying because you want to make more money? Once you know the reason you are traveling it will make it easier to decide where to go. Understand that if you have your heart set on a particular location, you may not the high pay rate you are looking for. โฃ

5๏ธโƒฃ ๐‰๐”๐’๐“ ๐ƒ๐Ž ๐ˆ๐“! I always tell people that are on the fence about being a traveler to just do one assignment. Take an assignment closer to home to see if it suits you. Thatโ€™s what I did for my first assignment. If you end up hating it you can always go back home. โฃ
โฃ
In the end ๐˜ช๐˜ตโ€™๐˜ด ๐˜ข ๐˜ฑ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ด๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ข๐˜ญ ๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆ๐˜ค๐˜ช๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ to know if you are ready to travel. Itโ€™s a big risk with a big reward. If you have any question feel free to reach out in the comments and I can give you some of my recruiters numbers and tips.โฃ

My name is Sara. Iโ€™m a ER nurse from Florida that is currently working as a travel nurse. I love to travel (like every millennial my age). I started traveling around the age of 23. I was dating a guy at the time that showed me how easy it was to travel. I had never thought that I could be able to travel at such a young age. I am lucky that I am a nurse and able to afford to and given the time to travel.
